Conversaciones ANIDAR _ ciclo 2020-22

.............................

The Conversaciones ANIDAR for the 2020-22 cycle have concluded. There are 126 conversations about the wide field delimited by childhood, education and architecture/art.

I started live conversations with
Arqa magazine in May 2020 during the confinement of the covid pandemic to talk with colleagues about projects, problems and solutions, concerns... Childhood education has variables present all over the world, and other variables that change according to the cultural and social context. Economic inequality and inequity cause great differences in educational quality within each society, more than their cultural differences.

Why are some states more efficient with their educational systems? In general, the more unequal the State is, the worse its educational system works because it tends to perpetuate and increase internal economic and social differences. The states with the least inequality, which tend to coincide with those with the "best" democratic quality, 1/ are aware of the importance of childhood and youth as a guarantee of its continuity, 2/ have a collective vision to build and cultivate public and private structures (agencies) that make it possible with the participation of all citizens, 3/ defend individual cultural freedom in homogeneous or heterogeneous cultural contexts of peaceful coexistence.

Art - architecture is one of the arts - is a fundamental component of the symbolic universe that shapes our understanding of life, therefore, our behavior towards others and the world. Art tells us -often without us being aware- how to perceive, how to desire, how to react. The cultural atmosphere where we breathe gives us the shape, and in turn, we alter it with our future. The education of architecture/art in childhood and youth forms the citizen through: 1/ learning the techniques of artistic languages for the creation of the work and critical thought on what has been done in the given context (skills), 2 / in processes of collective and participatory creation without violence (socialization), 3/ with the incessant search -the Beauty- for balance -the public space- between the world and the self (subjectivation).

The ANIDAR Conversations lasted until December 2022 with guests from various countries and disciplines: Early Childhood and Primary Education teachers, professors from Education or Architecture faculties, architects, economists, cultural managers, public administration officials, professionals from the private sector. The sum of the experiences configure a topographic map to advance with more security in solving the needs of children in each context. Educational projects have to respond to specific needs observed. Art -in its personal and collective dimensions- has the ability to solve some of those problems when educational projects are well formulated and carried out.

Some "magnetic poles" that order the map of the conversations are: architecture/art education in childhood and youth as artistic languages, participatory creation processes, educational activities in museums of architecture and art, collaboration between the cultural sector and the educational sector, the design of educational buildings (interior and exterior spaces), the design of educational and game objects, space and art in Early Childhood and Primary Education, Aesthetics and the function of art, state systems of education to cultivate fairer societies...

Note: "skills", "socialization" and "subjectivation" are concepts used by Gert Biesta in her book "The Rediscovery of Teaching".
